The Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy is esteemed to join the rest of Zimbabwe and the World in commemorating the acts of our heroes and heroines whose selflessness and patriotic dedication led to the freedom of our country. We recognize this day because it is the symbol of heroic deeds that paved the way for a new Zimbabwe, a country with a progressive and open economy, under the mentor-ship of the New Dispensation. As Zimbabwe continues to enjoy peace and sovereignty, National Heroes Day provides us with a chance to reflect on, and acknowledge the work and sacrifices of our fallen and living Heroes and Heroines, the citizens of this beautiful country have freedom and peace because of them.

We get inspiration from sacrifices of both our departed and living heroes. We learn from their struggles and find desire, strength and will to triumph over the many challenges and obstacles confronting us today. On this day, those who have taken up the mantle of our heroes and heroines have made significant contributions to the social, economic and political development of our nation and the developing world.
